Workflows

The process, running as a workflow you can see and trust

A Mogno workflow is not a brittle automation. It is a stateful, long-running process that moves work through steps with owners and SLAs, pauses for human approval, sends exceptions back for rework, and resumes from the last good step after a restart.

Every run is scoped, approved where it matters, and written to an audit trail your IT can follow.

Why it is different

Not another automation that breaks at the first exception

An automation script moves data on the happy path and dies the moment reality gets messy. A governed workflow carries state, approvals, and exceptions through the same stages, so the process survives the real world instead of the demo.

A Mogno workflow A brittle automation
Starts from structured intake, with the request captured once.
Intake
Starts from an email and a spreadsheet.
Stateful steps with owners and SLAs, long-running by design.
Run
A script on the happy path, no memory of where it is.
Exceptions route back for rework, nothing is dropped.
Exception
One bad input and the run fails silently.
Pauses for a named approver, within their authority.
Approval
No place for a person to say yes.
Every step, actor, and time on an audit trail.
Record
No record of who did what, when.

What a governed workflow carries

The parts a real process needs, in one workflow

A workflow is more than a chain of steps. It carries the state, the approvals, the exceptions, and the record that turn a fragile automation into an operation your team can trust.

Orchestrate

Stateful steps

Long-running steps with owners, status, and SLAs, built in a visual editor and triggered on a schedule or by a webhook.

Approve

Approvals with authority

Sensitive steps pause for a named approver within their tier, with the reason and the record kept alongside.

Return

Exceptions and rework

When something is off, the step routes back to the right person instead of failing silently or dropping the work.

Record

An audit trail by default

Every step, actor, and timestamp is written down, so a run can be followed and reported from intake to close.

A governed run

Watch one run move from intake to record

This is a single workflow instance. Each step has an owner, a status, and a time. Approvals pause it, exceptions send it back, and the whole run lands on an audit trail.

Documents read and fields extracted into the DataPack.

An inconsistency routes back for rework; the run keeps its place.

Waiting for approval

Named approver 10:05

A sensitive write pauses within the approver’s authority.

Waiting Approved

Written to the system of record

Workflow 10:06

Write-back under policy, only after approval.

Closed on the audit trail

Audit log 10:06

Every step, actor, and time, end to end.

How it stays safe

Every workflow runs under the same controls

A workflow is only as safe as the platform around it. On Mogno, workflows share one governance model with apps, agents, and data, so none of them run outside it.

FAQ

What teams ask about workflows

How is this different from Zapier or a workflow tool?

Those move data between apps on the happy path. A Mogno workflow carries state, approvals, exceptions, and an audit trail, and it lives inside a governed operational hub with data, apps, and agents, not on its own.

What happens when a step fails or the system restarts?

The run is stateful and durable. It resumes from the last good step after a restart, and a failed or exceptional step routes back for rework instead of dropping.

Do we build workflows in code?

You build them in a visual editor. Steps, branches, approvals, timers, schedules, and webhooks are configured, and Monica can draft a workflow for you. Custom logic runs in sandboxed tools where you need it.

Can a workflow act on its own?

Automatic steps run within policy. Anything sensitive, a payment, a contract, a write-back, pauses for a named approver. You set the line per step.

How do approvals and SLAs work?

Each step can have an owner, an SLA, and an approval tier. Approvals pause the run, keep the reason and the record, and route to the right person by authority, so nothing gets stuck in an inbox.

Do workflows connect to our existing systems?

Yes. Workflows read and write to your ERP, CRM, files, and databases through governed tools, with credentials encrypted and external calls approved before they go out. The system of record stays; Mogno orchestrates the flow around it.
